SANDRA BLAND IS DEAD OVER A CIGARETTE

I can think of few things that have made me angrier than watching the detainment and arrest of Sandra Bland. No! Those who defend Officer Encina for dragging a woman out of her car, detaining her, and arresting her for A FAILURE TO SIGNAL A LANE CHANGE make me angrier!  Oh. I’m sorry.  She was detained for the failure to signal, she was arrested for FAILING TO PUT OUT HER CIGARETTE WHILE SITTING IN HER OWN CAR! The ignorance of so called Conservatives never ceases to amaze me!

The video below and the tragedy that followed is an object lesson in the State use of petty reasons to interact with citizens and the subsequent abuse of power by those agents of the state.

THE FAILURE TO SIGNAL A LANE CHANGE, an offense committed by most drivers several times a day, is little more than one of a dozen nonsensical reasons an officer can stop a motorist.  Once stopped the officer can then use any number of other reasons to inquire into the personal business of the driver, attempt to search the vehicle, or order the driver to do any number of things – like put out a cigarette.  Failure to comply will result in the driver being detained and or beaten, or in the sad case of Sandra Bland, dead on the cement floor of a jail cell.  All of this for (say it with me) FAILURE TO SNUFF OUT HER CIGARETTE!

I am angry!  Officer Encina escalated the situation and it is HIS  lack professionalism that is the primary reason for Bland’s death.  As un-Christian as it is, I want this officer fired!  I want him to never hold a decent job again for the rest of his sorry life!  Forgiveness is not in me at the moment and until it arrives, I am hoping that he drowns his guilt in drugs and drink!

My fist in raised not only for Sandra Bland, but for all of us – even those pseudo Conservatives, who don’t seem to mind state power so long as the state is doing what they want the state to do.

RIP Sandra!
