THE DEVIL’S ADVOCATE YOU KNOW

“Unless we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ,” Obama said. “In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.”

I believe that the starting point of faith is some doubt,” said Obama. “Not being so full of yourself and so confident that you are right and that God speaks only to us and doesn’t speak to others.”

2015, National Prayer Breakfast

Why is everyone so shocked to hear President Obama take Christianity’s history and the Bible out of context, or distort the documented character of Jesus the Christ? It’s not as if it’s the first time, the second, or the third. This is yet another pattern with him—for both religious and secular history. In short, he pulls “facts” out of his backside and, of course, they never smell like roses.

And, as usual, perspective is foreign to him. Hundreds of Nigerian villagers killed, two Japanese journalists beheaded, 10 French journalists ambushed, and a Jordanian pilot burned alive just in the last month by adherents to Islam; but the president wants to talk about Jim Crow—a non-lethal injustice perpetrated by local Democrat governments, by the way.

He has a tendency to do this sort of thing in front of public Christians, as if he’s daring them to dispute his Bravo Sierra.

“For like us, Jesus knew doubt,” Obama said. “Like us, Jesus knew fear. In the garden of Gethsemane, with attackers closing in around him, Jesus told His disciples, ‘my soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death.’”

2012, Easter Prayer breakfast at the White House

But it isn’t as if Barack Obama didn’t tell us ten years ago that he likes to make stuff up about salvation.

“[M]y individual salvation is not going to come about without a collective salvation for the country.”

1995, Interview

There’s another figure who likes to distort God’s Word as well and it’s safe to say that habitual, bald-faced liars like this president work for him.
