FREEZING HOMELESS CHILD

What would you have done?  How often have all of us walked by someone in need?  Living in a big city can make one jaded.  I recall my early days in New York.  I used to walk down 34th street to catch the path train.  Every morning, I passed a woman who seemed to live in the doorway of the Woolworths.  One cold morning, I noticed that she had no gloves.  I had an impulse to give her my gloves.  As a student, I didn’t have much, but I certainly had more than her.  I shared the story with my grandparents, who were appalled. “Don’t you dare give the woman your gloves!  People in New York scam all the time.”  Well, not to long after that, I passed her in the doorway and she had a roll of bills that could choke a horse.  Certainly, she had money for a pair of gloves.  Or maybe not. Scripture instructs us to give to everyone who asks.  It isn’t up to us to decide who is scamming and who is not.  That is on them.

What would you do? You will be surprised at who stops to help.
