CLASSIC MARGARITA RECIPE

If I am served one more margarita made with store bought mix, I am going to scream. Those store bought mixes are filled with corn syrup, artificial coloring, and artificial flavors.  The rationale for buying already prepared margarita mix is that it is quick and easy.  The truth is that the classic margarita is a very simple drink to prepare. Once you have the proportions down, you can make an entire pitcher in about as much time as it takes to open a bottle of the store bought mix.

There are many types of margaritas.  There are margaritas that use fruit juice or nectar, add sour mix, use different flavored liqueurs, or add additional sugar.  The recipe presented here is for a simple, classic margarita, which uses three ingredients:  Tequila, triple sec, and fresh lime juice.  The proportions are three parts tequila, one part triple sec, and two parts fresh lime juice.

Or for one glass:

  • 1 1/2 ounce tequila
  • 1/2 ounce triple sec
  • 1 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice.

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add ingredients and shake vigorously.  Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. add a wedge of lime for garnish

The drink can also be served over ice.

The addition of salt or sugar on the rim of the glass is up to you.

Enjoy.
