MARTHA WASHINGTON’S RUM PUNCH

In honor of the July Fourth, Triple F is presenting this recipe for Martha Washington’s rum punch.  Story has it that this recipe is straight from the First Lady’s recipe collection. Try this refreshing rum based punch instead of your go to fruit punch recipe and honor our founders.

  1. 9 oz Flor de Cana 4 year old gold rum
  2. 12 oz Appleton Estate 12 year old rum
  3. 6 oz Grand Marnier
  4. 9 oz fresh lemon juice
  5. 9 oz fresh orange juice
  6. 9 oz spiced simple syrup
  7. 6 oz club soda

*Spiced Simple Syrup INGREDIENTS:

  • 1.5 cups Water
  • 1.5 cups Sugar
  • 2 Star anise pods
  • 1 to 2 Cinnamon sticks
  • 4 to 5 Whole cloves

PREPARATION: Add all the ingredients to a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves. Remove from heat and let stand until cool. Strain, and refrigerate until needed.

Add all ingredients except the club soda to a pitcher, stir and refrigerate until cold.

Place ice in a punch bowl.

Pour punch over ice.  Add lemon and orange wheels to punch for garnish.

Top with club soda and serve cold.
