THE END OF REASON: YOGA FOR COLORED PEOPLE

We could file this story under many headings.  For instance, “Why People Laugh At Progressives,” would work fine.  For now, we will just stick with The End Of Reason!

Last week, Rainier Beach Yoga in Seattle began a Yoga class for people of color. The class runs once a month.

Teresa Wang, co-founder of the specialized class, said it was started by five queer people of color who came together to create a safe space for people of color who might otherwise be uncomfortable.

An email blast about the class says it’s aimed at people of color and of all sexualities, ages, body sizes, abilities, genders, and experience with yoga. It specifically identifies “lesbian, bisexual, gay, queer and trans-friendly/affirming,” plus people who self-identify as “African American/black/of the African Diaspora, Asian, South Asian, West Asian/Arab/Middle Eastern, Pacific Islander, First Nations/Alaskan Native/Native American/Indigenous, Chican/Latin, or Multiracial/Mixed-Race.” The email adds that “white friends, allies and partners are respectfully asked not to attend.”

There is just so much idiocy here, one hardly knows where to begin.  What is the difference between people of color and colored people?  NOTHING!  Except that progressives have rationalized that it is okay when they use the term, just as discrimination is wrong when perpetrated against them, but okay if they are the one’s committing it.

Just a few months ago that a bakery in Portland Oregon was fined for declaring their preference to not bake a cake for a homosexual wedding.  That kind of “safe space” was declared discriminatory and illegal.  I don’t know these folks at Rainier Beach Yoga, but I suspect they didn’t rush to the philosophical aid of the bakery and declare that just as they have the right to teach yoga to whomever they choose, the bakery, too, has the ABSOLUTE right to bake for whomever they wish.

I actually hope the people of Seattle support this yoga class. In fact, I hope that other similar classes begin to be offered. And as they say, what is good for the goose…I am certain that white people would prefer to learn how to play basketball without black students in class. Or maybe white children and their parents would feel safer learning EVERYTHING in schools without black students.  They could send out email blasts asking that allies, friends, and partners, respect their safe space and NOT attend.

The problem is that Progressives believe in diversity!  Or perhaps not.  Apparently, what progressives actually believe is that any all-white class, organization, event, or happening is in need of non-white people, otherwise it is racist. When those same events, classes, and happenings lack white participation or actively EXCLUDE white participants, they are safe havens.  Because, of course, people of color live lives filled with oppression and cruel inhumanity.  Oh wait, that was 1915. We now live in 2015! Good Lord I am tired of squishy black folks and their idiot white enablers.
