The Salty Dog is a refreshing and simple cocktail featuring just two ingredients: Gin and Grapefruit juice. The salt in the Salty Dog comes from the salt around the rim of the glass. If you prefer vodka, feel free to substitute, although traditionally the Salty dog is a gin cocktail. Traditionalists call the vodka version of the drink a greyhound, which is also served without the salt rimmed glass. The great thing about learning this cocktail is that if you know how to make a Salty Dog, you also know how to make a greyhound.
- 2 oz gin
- 4-5 oz of grapefruit juice
- kosher salt to rim the glass.
Salt the rim of a collins glass.
Partially fill the glass with ice.
Pour ingredients over ice, give a quick stir and serve with a slice of lemon for garnish.
