GIMLET

Cocktails don’t get much easier or much more refreshing that the Gimlet.  The gimlet cocktail was originally conceived as a way to help prevent sailors from getting scurvy.  The tart and refreshing taste soon made the gimlet a popular drink and one every bartender/entertainer should have in his or her repertoire.

The Gimlet

  1. 2 1/2 oz Gin
  2. 1/2 oz lime juice
  3. 1/2 oz simple syrup

Note: Simple syrup is made by combining equal parts sugar and water in a pan and bringing to a boil.  Cool liquid down and store in an airtight container for up to a week.  You may also choose to purchase simple syrup from your liquor store.  You may also substitute one ounce of  a lime cordial such as Rose’s lime juice, for the lime juice and simple syrup.

Combine all ingredients in a shaker and fill with ice.  Shake and then strain into a chilled cocktail glass or into a Collins glass filled with ice. Garnish with a slice of lime.

Enjoy
