MARTINEZ COCKTAIL

The Martinez cocktail.

The Martinez cocktail is a classic, sweeter, gin-based cocktail that is the predecessor to the classic martini.

To make the Martinez cocktail you will need gin, sweet vermouth, angostura or orange bitters, maraschino cherry liqueur, and a strip of orange zest for garnish. This basic recipe is from Liquor.com, but feel free to play with the ratios.  some recipe’s also substitute Triple sec or Cointreau for the maraschino liqueur.

  1. 1 1/2 oz Gin
  2. 1 1/2 oz Sweet Vermouth
  3. 1/4 oz Maraschino liqueur
  4. 2 Dashes Angostura Bitters

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker, fill with ice and shake until well chilled.  Strain into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with strip of orange zest.
